Our Current Trip
For this trip we are heading south. Lots of people go south in the winter. We are taking that direction the extreme. We are going to join a Viking Expedition to Antarctica.
Sailing Brought Them Together
Rich and Martha met sailing in Indianapolis and bought a boat before they owned sofa. They raced Lightnings on Geist Reservoir.
Rich had grown up sailing on the Niagra River in a Lightning with his Dad and Martha raced with her Dad in Indianapolis on a Lightning. When Rich moved to Indianapolis in 1979 he looked up the Lightning fleet and came out to crew at The Indpls Sailing Club. Martha and her sister, Kathy beat Rich and his skipper in a race and Martha and Rich have been sailing together every since!

Cruising History
In 2010 they took their first bareboat trip in the Leeward Islands with Walter and Sue Nagel and Ralph and Debbie Lawrence. They were hooked and took the Cruising certification courses in San Diego through ASA in Sept. 2015. Since then they have chartered a boat nearly every year and sailed the Leeward Islands, California coast, Croatia, US Virgins and the southern Caribbean for 2 weeks at a time. The big trip was in January /February of 2023 when they sailed on a 42 foot Lagoon Catamaran for 6 weeks. They sailed from St. Thomas in the USVI down to Guadalope and back to the USVI.
